 RICARES has announced the opening of a new women's sober house in Providence, with current openings for women with a real commitment to recovery. The location is in need of donated bedding, furniture, food staples, personal hygiene products, etc. For further information call 401-351-2093.

Three RI museums will offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2010.  In RI, the three museums are:  Museum of Art, RISD in Providence, Museum of Natural History & Planetarium in Providence and the South County Museum in Narragansett, RI. For more information visit www.arts/gov/national/bluestarmuseums.

All Rhode Islanders interested in pursuing careers in film and television....You need to be cautious when choosing to work with talent and casting companies who want to charge money for their services/acting classes.  They potentially could be financially predatory in nature, and will often use a child's dream to target their parents.  Think twice before offering your cash or credit card!  Be sure to check with the Better Business Bureau at (508) 652-4800 or the State of RI's Attorney General's Office at (401) 274-4400.

SEPTEMBER



September 4-United in Faith 2010, an Outdoor Festival of Christian Music, will take place at the Church of The Apostles, 170 Fairview Avenue, Coventry, RI from 11:30am to 7pm.  The festival features Sue Samuel, Spirit & Truth, Mike & Beth Silva, and Daryle Borrows & the Lighthouse Worship Band.  From noon to 5pm there will be a children's stage with entertainment, activities, and more!  Admission is FREE.  The RI Blood Center will conduct a Blood Drive from 11am to 3pm.  For more information visit www.apostlesri.org or call Cathy at (401) 499-3918 or the church office at (401) 821-7609.

September 12-Barrington Baptist Church will hold a Fall Family Kick-Off celebration at 10am.  There will be an outdoor worship service with singing, special music and a message from Pastor Paul Martins.  A potluck lunch, provided by the church family, will follow the service along with a time of games for all ages.  Bring your lawn chair or blanket and join us for rain or shine.  All are invited!  Located on Old County Road in Barrington, right off Rt 114.  Call the church office at (401) 246-0188 for more information.

September 25-Join Focus on the Family for the Celebrate Family Tour coming to New York City on Tuesday at 7pm.  This unique event features a live taping with Focus President, Jim Daly....and Dr. John Trent, author the The Blessing.  Plus, enjoy an appearance from Christian comedian Jeff Allen.  The event is free, but seating is limited.  Register today at focusonthefamily.com/new-york.  The Celebrate Family Tour...inspiring the next generation of families!
